All About Motorized Shades and Blinds

The first thing you need to know about motorized shades and blinds is fairly obvious – they are really cool. The other thing you need to know about them is that you don’t have to settle for boring-looking window treatments to have them automated. Hunter Douglas offers numerous motorized window treatments in Seattle, Washington.

Motorized Shade Options

Motorization of Hunter Douglas Custom shades can be accomplished in a couple different ways. With PowerRise®, you can raise or lower one or more shades with one remote and no additional wiring is necessary. PowerGlide gives you the same ability for your Luminette sheers. PowerView® Motorization allows you to use a wall-mounted switch, remote, mobile device such as a cell phone or tablet, or your whole-home automation system to operate shades individually or set scenes based on the time of day. Here are some of the motorized shades available:

Honeycombs – These energy-efficient, noise-reducing shades provide varying degrees of light control and privacy based on the materials used and the number of cellular layers. Cellular shades can also be hung vertically to cover extra-wide windows and sliding glass doors.

Roller shades – Roller shades are available in numerous colors, patterns, and opacities. Screen shades and woven woods gently filter the light, while solid fabrics can effectively darken a room.

Roman shades – If you want a fabric window treatment but draperies just aren’t practical, Roman shades offer the same look and feel while staying within the window frame instead of hanging loose.

Silhouette® and Pirouette® - These beautiful window shadings consist of sheer panels that filter UV rays and horizontal vanes of fabric that provide additional coverage when closed.

Luminette® - Luminettes also combine sheers and fabric, but their vanes run vertically, making them perfect for sliding glass doors. Because Luminette® shadings do not raise or lower, they are not available with PowerRise® but can be automated with PowerView® Motorization.

Motorized Blinds in Seattle, Washington

PowerTilt™ gives you the ability to tilt the slats of your horizontal blinds with the touch of a button. Vertical blinds can be open and closed with a motorized system similar to PowerTilt. PowerView® Motorization is also available on several lines of horizontal blinds and Skyline® vertical window panels. Motorized blinds are available on the following blinds:

Wood horizontal blinds – These blinds have a natural woodgrain pattern and can be stained or painted to match the woodwork in your home.

Aluminum – Available in various slat sizes and colors, these aluminum blinds are designed to resist bending and denting, making them a durable choice for any room.

Faux wood - EverWood® horizontal blinds give the look of natural wood blinds but are less susceptible to damage from heat and humidity so you can hang them in your kitchen or bath without worrying.

Skyline® – These unique gliding window panels from Hunter Douglas give a sleek, contemporary look to any sliding glass door.
